Welcome back to your weekly fishing report from Bedsole Outdoor Adventures. After a week of unpredictable weather, shifting winds, and scattered storms, the Gulf is finally setting up for a more stable stretch. As conditions improve, expect the bite to rebound quickly from Destin to Panama City Beach to Orange Beach.
Weather & Conditions
Last week brought everything — wind shifts, storms, muddy water, and tough windows. This week looks much better:
Wind: 8–14 knots early week, dropping to 5–10 knots by the weekend
Waves: 2–4 ft early, improving to 1–2 ft by Saturday
Water Temp: Upper‑70s and climbing
Clarity: Patchy early, but cleaner green water pushing in by Sunday
Overall: A much more stable forecast. Expect the bite to fire back up as seas settle and clarity improves.
What’s Biting (5/8–5/14)
Offshore
Mahi-Mahi: Showing up stronger as warm water pushes north
Blackfin Tuna: Early morning bite around rips and temperature breaks
Vermilion Snapper: Consistent on natural bottom when conditions allow
Scamp Grouper: Reliable in 180–260 ft
King Mackerel: Good numbers returning to nearshore reefs as water clears
Wahoo: Scattered but possible along deeper edges
Nearshore
Spanish Mackerel: Thick schools along the beaches when water clarity improves
Cobia: Still moving through the Panhandle, though more scattered
Pompano: Solid surf bite on cleaner beaches
Jack Crevalle: Big schools cruising the surf and passes
