Weekly Fishing Report for October 2 to 9 from Destin to Gulf Shores

ree

Welcome back to Bedsole Outdoor Adventures Weekly Fishing Report! We’re thrilled to share our love for fishing and the great outdoors through our blog and social media. Our mission is to help you prepare for your adventures with easy access to top gear through our affiliate partner program.

This past week, the captains along the coast from Destin to Gulf Shores reported solid fishing conditions. As we look at the weather, it seems promising but a bit windy. Expect waves around 2-5 feet and winds in the teens throughout the weekend. Cooler water temperatures have spurred increased activity. When bottom fishing, consider having a flatline out since Kingfish are moving closer in.

Inshore, the fishing reports were mixed last week. While species like Spanish Mackerel and Redfish showed good numbers, the action on Speckled Trout and Mahi Mahi has slowed down somewhat.

It's time to start planning your fishing trip now!

What’s HOT in Fishing?

This week, Amberjack and Red Snapper were the star catches, particularly in the morning near the oil rigs. Anglers reported impressive hauls that included:

  • Red Grouper

  • Scamp

  • Mahi Mahi

  • Spanish Mackerel

  • King Mackerel

  • Black Drum

  • Vermillion Snapper

  • Trigger Fish

Do not be surprised if you also encounter sharks as they are becoming more active in these waters!

The thrill doesn't stop there! Tuna have been showing up off the beaches from Orange Beach to Panama City. As fall brings cooler temperatures, these fast fish are nearing shore, presenting an excellent opportunity to land a big catch.
